SnapKeep for macOS
Last updated: June 19, 2026
SnapKeep is built from the ground up with privacy as the core principle. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your data.
Data Collection
SnapKeep does not collect any personal data. Your screenshots, annotations, and settings are stored locally on your device. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to access your content.
Local Storage
All your screenshots and data are stored in your Mac's local file system or iCloud Drive (if enabled). We use standard macOS file APIs and never access your data outside of the app's sandboxed environment.
No Analytics or Tracking
SnapKeep contains zero analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any form of tracking. The app makes no network requests unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync. Your usage patterns and behavior are completely private.
Encryption & Security
Per-file encryption uses AES-256-GCM via Apple's CryptoKit framework with PBKDF2 key derivation (320,000 iterations, SHA-256). Passwords are never stored — only you can decrypt your files. Metadata stripping removes all EXIF, GPS, timestamps, and camera information.
iCloud Sync
iCloud sync is optional and disabled by default. When enabled, your data syncs through Apple's iCloud infrastructure using their end-to-end encryption. We never have access to your iCloud data. Disabling sync moves all data back to local storage.
Permissions
SnapKeep requires Screen Recording permission to capture screenshots and optionally Accessibility permission for global keyboard shortcuts. These permissions are used exclusively for their stated purposes and data is never transmitted externally.
